Propel ABA was created when the mother of a child challenged by autism partnered with the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who worked with her son. For years these two women collaborated over the ABA intervention for one special boy. But over the years of working together, these two women came to realize that, together, they could endeavor toward a greater and meaningful purpose. Delivering Applied Behavioral Analysis services to families is something this pair is passionate about. The name “Propel” developed very early on during their collaboration, and the mission — Progress in Motion — started to have real meaning as they began their work together.

As a mother, Jacqueline Porro knows what she wants from the direct service providers who will be in the home and working closely with your precious child. As a BCBA, Kara Ferdinand knows that the work of the direct service providers is hugely impactful when the services are properly delivered. Together, Jacqueline and Kara believe that having skilled, patient, deliberate, and ethical service providers is essential to the ABA work that has to be done with your child in your home and community. Every time Propel sends a direct service provider to work with your child, our goal is to improve your child’s life in some way. Whether we are working to lessen the symptoms that interfere with daily life or to increase skills to grow and challenge your child, we are working towards progress.

Celebrating Progress

In the years since Jacqueline’s son was diagnosed with autism, she has celebrated the anniversary of his diagnosis with a “Progress Party.” The family takes some time and intentionally reviews where their son (brother and grandson) was and where he is a year later. We at Propel believe that this outlook on therapeutic treatment is essential to long-term growth. We are always measuring our client’s progress as against him/herself with a view towards long-term growth.

Intentional, Daily Work

The day-to-day work, which is a measure of short-term progress, requires that we send our direct service providers into the home ready to take daily data. We work to meticulously track the skills that your child needs to develop and we build upon the skills with new skills as the child progresses. It is hard work. It must be done intentionally. And it takes time to see results. So we at Propel view ourselves as partnering with your family to improve the life of your child. We look forward to working with you as we set progress in motion.
